Are COVID Delays Still A Thing?

The Covid-19 pandemic wreaked havoc on global supply chains. Lockdowns, shipping & manufacturing delays, and a labor shortage have all contributed to massive supply chain issues. While we have adjusted our lives to living with Covid, there are still some very real delays when it comes to purchasing interior design and home décor items. Despite these delays, the design/construction business continues to boom. So, how do we work around that when planning your project?

1. Knowledge is power! Be aware that the delays still exist and plan accordingly.

2. If you love or need an item, buy it. Do not delay in purchasing items that are “must haves”. Custom upholstery and appliances are still experiencing the longest lead times. Not only are shipping times delayed, but factories are still dealing with a backlog of orders from the shutdown. Place your orders early or you might be out of luck!

3. Shop local when possible. As your design professional, we have a deep bench of trusted and talented craftspeople who can make the perfect piece just for you. By shopping local, you are supporting a small business, and taking delivery in half the time it would take from a more mass-produced vendor.

4. Upcycle/recycle. We love sourcing one-of-a-kind antiques for our clients as well as refurbished vintages pieces. These pieces often become the star of the show due to their unique style and backstory!

5. Do not get rid of your current furniture before you have a firm delivery date. As your designers, we will work with the vendors and constantly communicate with you. But until the items are at our receiver and delivery is scheduled, we always tell clients to hold on to their existing furniture!

6. Be flexible and be prepared to pivot. In our design presentation, we always have at least two back up options that are all equally as fabulous as your first choice. We can either pivot or decide to wait on a perfect piece. Regardless, we will never leave you hanging!

7. Understand that we are a team and have the same goal! Together we will create the perfect home environment for you and your family. Furniture delays are only a small part of the entire design process and as in life, there are always creative ways to problem solve! At Lola Tucker Interiors, we pride ourselves on our bespoke customer service. We have your back!
